Because of my experiences with the September Field Trial @ Spring Creek Hunt Club, hosted by the Virginia Outdoor Beagle Assoc, I have decided to give them some competition. I'm hoping to find a few more Beaglers interested in forming a field trial club for deer/rabbit/fox beagles in the Central Virginia area. If your tired of bending over backwards to field trial, come join an organization that works FOR it's members. We've had a few clubs respond with interest in hosting hunts, but are still looking for more. Most of the current field trials are held in an area of VA around the NC border. This is a very long distance for kennels in the central part of the state to travel, and gas prices continue to rise. I'm currently just assesing the interest in this part of the state, and collecting contact information from interested persons.
My goal: Is to put together an association to hold field trial hunts for beagles. The association should strive to hold trials which will allow kennel owners to compete for bragging rights as well as trophies and awards. The association will work in conjunction with local area hunt clubs to host the trials on lands that allow for the maximum ideal # of dogs, and safety of those involved. The majority of the proceeds from these trials would go right back to the hunt clubs, allowing these clubs to improve lands/club conditions without raising club dues. These hunts would also provide a stream of income from which the clubs can purchase 4-wheelers, rifles, etc for club fundraising raffles. The rest of the proceeds would be directed back into the association for trophies, awards, operating expenses, and of course with $2.00 per dog being donated to the Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance (VAHDA) I'm very interested in finding clubs that would be willing to participate in something like this, so please leave a comment below with contact info. The participating clubs must file an application to host the trials through the VADGIF. If you email me your address I'll email you the application, mail it to you, or you can print it HERE
The association will strive to work in conjunction with the hunt clubs, association members, VAHDA, and landowners to support the sport that we all love and cherish. Again, this association is simply in the census stage at this point, but any help or additional resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and Godbless
